Nature Seychelles has received funding from the United States’ ambassador’s self-help programme to publish the second edition of the popular sustainable lifestyle book, Grow and Eat your Own Food. The funds were received at a signing ceremony held at the Liaison Unit for Non-Governmental Organisation (LUNGOS) held on 2 May with US ambassador to Seychelles Shari Villarosa.
3 other Non-governmental Organisations – Association for People with Hearing Impairment (APHI), Alliance of Solidarity for the Family (ASFF) and Centre d’Accueil de la Rosière (Car) – signed funding agreements under the programme.
Ms Villarosa said non-governmental organisations and community groups play an important role in addressing the needs of their communities. “We welcome more project proposals to address the other important community needs in Seychelles,” she said.
Lungos chairperson Marie-Nella Azemia thanked the US embassy for making available funds for local non-governmental organisations to tap into and commended these bodies for their projects
A total of US $18,791 have been allocated to fund the four projects.
