There are only two species of native land mammals in Seychelles. They are the Seychelles fruit bat Pteropus seychellenis and the Seychelles sheath-tailed bat Coleura seychellensis, both of which are endemic to Seychelles. There are two subspecies of the fruit bat, Pteropus seychellensis seychellensis found on granitic islands and Pteropus seychellensis adabrensis found on Aldabra.
Marine mammals in the Seychelles are more diverse. Many species of marine mammal either reside in the Seychelles, or migrate through the Islands waters. Some species, especially dolphins, can be seen from the shore or on a boat trip to and from any of the islands.
