Wildlife trade: the threat to human health

We should all by now be familiar with the threats that introduced species can pose. They have done enormous damage to ecosystems all over the world. In Seychelles, we have seen it first hand. We have also been world leaders in the restoration of small island ecosystems, involving alien species control and habitat revival.

World Oceans Day

Thousands of volunteers and professionals, spread over the five continents are marking World Oceans Day on 8 June, highlighting the beauty and the fragility of marine ecosystems and the need to act right now to ensure not only their survival, but also our own. 

The World Bank supports privately-owned islands in Seychelles

The world’s largest financing body for the environment The Global Environment Facility (GEF) is through its implementing agency the World Bank is funding one of the most exciting projects in recent years for conservation of privately owned islands. The grant comes to total of US$ 814,000.00 to be disbursed over a period of three years. The project entitled “Improving Management of NGO and Privately Owned Nature Reserves and High Biodiversity Islands in Seychelles” has now started and is being coordinated by Nature Seychelles which successfully negotiated for the grant
