Charities rally in Victoria

Nature Seychelles was among the non-governmental and charitable organisations taking part in the Barclays Bank Miles Ahead community project in June. The event brought the groups together at Camion Hall in Victoria. At the event, Government ministers, the bank’s customers and the public, invited to rally support for the various causes.

Miles Ahead was launched by Barclays to support non-profit organisations in Africa by encouraging sustainable and meaningful community development. The event enabled the organisations taking part the opportunity to create awareness among all present of the worthy causes that they represent.

The bank has also announced that this year's edition of 'Pamoja' (Together we can), will be celebrated on a larger scale as it will be integrated under the Miles Ahead umbrella. Funds raised through Miles Ahead will be channelled into sustainable upliftment initiatives on the African continent, focusing on education, social inclusion, the environment, the disabled, HIV/ Aids and health issues.

Independent school visit to Cousin
The LEAP programme helps children to undertake field trips and nature walks, and to visit nature reserves on other islands.

Staff and pupils from the Independent School visited Cousin Island Special Reserve in May. They were there to  meet the reserve staff and to be taken on a guided walk to be introduced to the birds and wildlife of the island, and to learn about the work that the team do there to help visitors enjoy the reserve.
