Sharing experience worldwide

Cousin Island Special Reserve is recognised as a leading example of genuine eco-tourism and small island conservation management that demonstrably works. We aim to share this expertise globally, and also to draw upon the knowledge and experience of others to help our local staff. To do this we have created a scheme we’ve called the Experience Exchange Programme.

New buoys for Cousin Island

Nature Seychelles has received funding from a foundation in the United States that has enabled the purchase and installation of modern and purpose-built demarcation buoys around the Marine Protected Area (MPA) of Cousin Island Special Reserve.

Cousin and Cousine gear up for joint action

The conservation teams of Cousin Island Special Reserve and Cousine island (privately owned) have joined forces to find new ways of taking action for their unique environments. Teams from both islands and Nature Seychelles headquarters staff held a recent workshop on Cousin to agree the priorities for joint action, in our three-year project funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) through the World Bank.

Cousin Reserve gains prestigious award

Cousin Island in the Seychelles has gained a prestigious Highly Commended award in the eleventh annual British Airways Tourism for Tomorrow awards. The competition showcases some of the world’s role models in responsible tourism and recognises organisations in the tourism industry that have made a positive contribution towards their local natural and cultural environment.
